Cannock Chase ride

Post by Adventurer »

Just a few pictures from today's ride over cannock chase. Just testing some kit out.

Bought a feed bag from alpkit and was concerned that my knee would hit it but today found that it is no issue at all. In fact it was ideal keeping my tea flask on hand when it got too cold.

Also realised that my neoprene overshoes just don't cut it for longer than 1 hour. My feet were ok but being a bit warmer would have been nice.

If I did a full day ride I really need to get some winter boots.

Normally when I'm out for a MTB ride I use a rucksac, but what I am finding is that I prefer to have the bikepacking bags on my bike.

In particular the seat pack. On my last ride I put a down jacket in and a few other warm items and also my pump. I had my tool kit in a feed bag. It seems so much less hastle and easier on the back that a rucksac.

The biggest difference I have found is swapping my rock shox SID fork for some surly forks. I thought is was going to bean awful ride, and I must say I am a convert. I might even go as far to say that I actually prefer the ride with the rigid forks.
