when we receive our list of grids, and plan our route, if any of the grids is near say a pub, or a b n b.
would it be ok to use one of these for accommodation if you were not up to camping out?

I would guess that some would be ok with it as long as you didn't pre book it.
But then others will frown on it and others won't give a dam.

It's not a race, do what you like. :-bd

Enjoy yourself is all that matters.

reason i asked, is because i have wanted to do a bearbones event since their 1st inception, but have never been able to do so because of a health problem.
i am now better, so want to give this one a go. but, i seem to be catching things quite easy now, full of cold at present, had shingles recently.
i dont thing a night sleeping out in possibly sub zero temps would do me good.
so i plan to plot a route with the grids that takes me near a bit of civilization and get a nights lodgings, the plot a route back.
sounds ideal.

If you can somehow include the overnight at a decent bothy that could be a good compromise Ton.

Worked for us last year

Don't forget the "Fiesta of Fords" may need a bit of planning around, to avoid cold feet in early January where you may need to take your shoes and socks off for each of the potentially many sub zero river crossings.
Or if you have no shame, do as I and another on here (no names given) have done http://johnclimber.com/2014/12/17/call- ... on-police/

Those look great unless you ride with cleats. Then I see a flaw in the design

I do ride in cleats and will need to be careful and walk on my heels.

Tony ... I live my life with a couple of 'rules' one of which is 'It's easier to to ask for forgiveness than permission'.

Hope that helps

If the route is going where everyone thinks its going, then those wellies won't be much cop. You will need some of these...

It's waist deep even during the Summer.

now if you could fit cleats to this that would be ideal for all year round use ;)
