I've been poking around the traps for a complete TCW GPX. Seems IMBA's site is properly hosed...if anyone has this archived and is happy to share, pls let me know.

Furthermore...has anyone done this in the winter and if so, just how sloppy does it get? Could be a good weekender or a try for a single dash.

Edit: I am planning a winter attempt on the fat bike - prep for Rovaniemi. I expect a few bits will be very much on the soggy side, so the 4" tyres should be quite suited.

Cheers for the link, Ian. I've had a look at your double report...sounds like it gets a bit damp under the rubber. Might have a nose at the start of this on the weekend and see what I'm in for.

Would I be right in thinking most of the wet, sloppy stuff is towards the East? Rhayader onwards is pretty dry, I think?

To a large extent, yes. But at this time of year, there will be wet sections all the way along I reckon. The worst would be the pull up through the forest to Bwlch-y-sarnau (travelling east west).

I was going to give it a go west-east as I've not done that as a single (only the second half of the double), and I think it might be quicker compared to the traditional direction (assuming same conditions).

I did it in the Oct 1/2 term and it was pretty soggy
Although I had good weather, it had rained the week before and it was pretty soft in places, fallen leaves over rocks/roots and soft mud so you had to be on your guard
