Kit you lusted after back in the day?

I always fancied a Phoenix Phreerunner (1982), but never bought one. Cutting edge in its day for a 1/2 person tent. I think it weighed (edit) ~1.6 kilo

(I did buy a Phreeranger and nearly drowned in it one night as I hadn't sealed the seams).

I also remember lusting after Berghaus shiny nylon covered down stuff.

What was on your wishlist?

I always wanted a trangia as a lad. Finally got one and realised how massive they actually are. It still comes out on car camping trips though. Stu's stove covers the bikepacking duties now.

The original Giro helmet. They looked so cool after having a bulky bell helmet. Was in Hawaii shortly before they hit the market and hit a couple bike shops trying to get my mitts on one. No luck. Funny thing is, I don't seem to fit Giro helmets. Every time I need a new helmet, I try one of their models on and I can not seem to find one that fits right/feels right. I always end up with a Bell in the end.

Another dedicated Bell customer here. Even my cheepy £25 one I bought when I was 16 still fits me better than a high end gyro helmet.

As a kid, I saw one of the very first breathable bivvy bags in a magazine and wanted one. However, even in the 70's they were over £100 so I had to be content to spend damp nights in a plastic survival bag ... as an 8 year old I had no real conception of condensation and other such things

I had one of those and loved it, my family all chipped in and got me it for Christmas. My brother couldn't understand why such a small tent cost so much. It got used for cycle touring both on and off road, motorbike rallies and festivals, fantastic.
Around the same time I got burgled and the house was totally trashed, paint thrown everywhere etc. I was away touring so my bike and kit was safe. Anyway, living in Newcastle where Dave Yates was based meant a good chunk of the insurance money went on a Team Diabolo MTB, my favourite all time bike.
