Flights to Calgary are ~£300

Flights from Texas back though are coming in at 2-3 times the price.

We're not limited by time though we're not going to do the double.

Any ideas?

I'm flying out of Phoenix. Haven't booked yet, but will be next week, looking at around £850 all in for London > Calgary and Phoenix > London. With BA, which take bikes for free.

Is that an open ticket out of Phoenix, or do you have to specify a date?

Flights in/out of Vegas are cheap due to the casinos subsidising them. Makes for a nice road trip though New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada.

That's a specific date, I tried on BA's site with an open return leg, £2500. crazy!

When we went last year flights out and back were around the £1200 mark.

These were specific dates and I had to book two separate flights to get that deal. Flying from Manchester didn't make things easy, but it was easier this end than having to deal with getting down to Heathrow.

I'd recommend BA from Kevin's experience as the bike can be classed as your piece of hand luggage. Sometimes there is a sweet spot for prices. Depends if you want certanty or a bit of a gamble.

Kevin may have some idea, but he's overseas at the moment.

fwiw mine were 950 with BA, booked about 6 weeks out with fixed dates, I paid £100 I think to change date of the return flight. BA allowed this at a lower cost than most and that appealed when booking. London to Calgary, return from El Paso to Dallas then London. Bike was free on BA but $100 on the American partner airline on the way back.

Thanks for the tip on BA.

I didn't realise that bikes could travel for free with them,

This year I flew into Calgary and out of Phoenix with BA, booked the flights 11 months in advance for
about the £850 mark and checked 6 weeks before I flew to see how clever I had been by booking early
and the price was virtually the same :???:
(Might not be the same this year though !!)
I changed my flight home to a few days earlier and it cost £100, so you could factor this in and give yourself
plenty of time then just bring the return flight forward.
The bike flew free but watch the weight as if it is a fraction over they will charge £50ish
