So having sat in the house for two days bored out my brains due to the crap weather yet again, i decided to give Hux a call and tell him my plans. It didnt take much for him to decide it was a good call. So off we headed to Rhayader once again ( third time in a month for me ) my turn to drive. The plan was simple........take the full sussers, do a 20mile ride taking in all the good descents then back to the car where the BOB trailer was waiting loaded with wood/coal. Id then haul ass it up the hill and over to the bothy where we would drink loads of whiskey and eat curry!
We got the bikes out the car at the carpark by Craig Goch Reservoir and rode up the grassy bank to the Roman camp on the BB200 route of old. The weather was spot on!

We made our way across to the top of the byway where we would then descend at full pelt down the common. The skys turned black and it opened up big time on us. Heading up the valley to Elan village on the Sustrans route we got totally soaked! At this point we both decided to take a shorter route so carried on up the cycle route then via the climb up and over a hill that Composite showed me on my last trip ( again from the BB200 route).

Up in the dark to the mast and down a fantastic descent through the woods. Id been telling Hux about this new descent id done however when we got to the top it was pitch black so head torches on we dropped through the woods which was by now a running river and really slippy.
Back to the car we picked up the trailer, i hitched it up and off we went to the bothy. This was fun dragging it around the reservoir NOT.

However easier than trying to carry a big bag of wood on your frame like last time. Getting to the bothy was a great feeling and we had it all to ourselves again.

Hux got the fire going straight away and i think by the time id sorted my stuff out he'd already drank most of his red wine.

Out came the whiskey. Class few days with a mixture of weather and riding.
