Pick up from Facebook. Prototype for 2016 29+ With a some Braze on's on the forks and slidding dropouts I could be tempted so I can run SS or Alfine, Front rim seems to be a new rim, an Alex 50mm, 770 grammes ish.

I was interested in their new Longitude but considering they originally said a September release I wish they'd get their act together.

They're available to buy now even if their website doesn't reflect that... Keep Pedalling have one on the shop floor and I have a friend who picked one up from Harry Halls, assume other distributors are able to get them too.

Sounds like it's already obsolete!

What tyres are they running then?
Seems the big bugbear with the 29+ is
still the lack of tyre options. Seems mad to be saying it but given Surlys recent blog post on the issue it looks like winter 2015/16 is going to be the first winter you might get grip with a 29+ tyre!

WTB have launched a 2.8 and Vee Rubber a 3.25 ... both should be on these shores sometime November

Those are 27.5 tyres arent they Stu? Looks like it has Maxxis Chronicles on in the pic, which should land sometime between Nov-Dec. From what I read though there still not a 29+ winter tyre though

So I see the Longitude that is now for sale is coming with 35mm rims and 2.4 conti tyres.
That is not 29+, so I guess they are just saying it is 29+ compatible?

They are but I thought the bike in the FB link was a 650b+ ... that seems to be what they're saing in the blurb.

Sam from Singular has Maxxis 29+ tyres on the way and I think Charlie the Bike Monger has them due in November. I think I'm still going to building up my Rooster with 2.4 Chunky Monkies or Ardents until there's a bit more choice though

I'm not sure there'll ever be much choice. I envisage many tyre manufactures tooling up for 650b+ and largely ignoring 29+ ... 650b+ will give them a much bigger customer base as many 'standard' 29ers will accept it.

I'd agree that 29+ will always be niche, but based on this (WTB Trailblazer vs Traxx Fatty 3.25)
I'm not sure that 650B+ will be more common. Yes on the basis that there's more bike that can accept it, possibly. 650B+ will only fit 29ers if it's done the way WTB have done it - a tread that's smaller than a 2.4 Ardent on a casing that's big, but not massively so, on a 45mm internal rim. Nice combo but with a 725mm OD, not a perfect match for 29ers either. The lower BB may be good, maybe not. The B+ Traxx Fatty in a 29er, no-chance. Much bigger.
Still trying to figure out where these new wheel options have potential, the Traxx Fatty above would be on my Jones by now but it's a smaller OD than the Ardent, it's 3" actual casing size. Needs to be 3.25-3.5".
