For anyone that isn't riding this weekend - and isn't already fed up with BB200 forum threads - here's a link to my SPOT page for this weekend:

Cool thankyou, I'll be watching these with interest.
To keep everyone going, just think, it's better than writing about chloride ion ingress into concrete and the effect that has on the bond model of the reinforcement to concrete which is my weekend choice of things to do

Best of luck all. Have fun out there, type 2 perhaps, but have it anyway.

Ta for the spot - a bit of blue-dotting will be a welcome relief from sanding floors
Have a great time all

And for anyone bored with Ian's just look at where he is and then trace back about 100km and you'll find where I will probably be.

I've got two tabs open and flick between them.
Ian is stopped just short of bryncrug for 16mins. Puncture?

Ian's just approaching the first proper hike-a-bike section ... once he's through that they start to appear at regular intervals

Has Barter stuck his SPoT in Ian's bag or are they just close?

Ian is just over 50 mile in about 7 hours so about 7 mph how do you feel they are doing Stu ?? Will things get a bit slower ?
If he keeps this pace he will be in for a sub 24 time !!!!!!!. How many black badges do you have ready

Things will probaly start to slow within the next 20 - 30k and the onset of darkness will obviously make matters worse. Plenty of black badges, but I don't think we'll be needing them ... my guess was 3 or 4.

Any chances of a gold badge for anyone this year!?

How many starters were there in the end?

No, gold badges will need to start again ... there'll only ever be 2 for the old route.
How many starters were there in the end?
67 set off I think. There were around 86 entered, by last night that was down to low 70's ... I believe the first DNF's have just landed back at the start.
Lovely morning for it, cloud inversion and a bit of a chill in the air.
And there off ... 3 seconds in and we're off and pushing.
The first climb does go on for a bit, so in fairness trying to ride it is a bit pointless.

It is also the 24 hour world champs at Fort Bill this weekend, started midday. A few familiar names in it:

I know Richard Dunnett slightly, 3rd as I write, and hope he keeps up his pace. He was 3rd in the Trans Con race and second at Mayhem earlier in the year so should have the endurance.

Ah, so you need 3 x black per route to get gold?

Yeah.
In other news, I've just been informed that Barmouth looks like a refugee camp

Hmmm. This is making my decision to drop out feel more vindicated. That and worsening manflu today.
Had a text from Paul Marshall, he was in barmouth at 4.20. I suggested he might get through the hike a bike section before dark. Not so sure now.
He did say that the trails were ace to that point though so think he's enjoying it.
