May be a good idea to have one place to dump knowledge of feed / water stops....
Usual places in Macc (14 miles in) I guess and Barmouth (about 40m in)
Shops (Spar of course!) and petrol station (run by a very grumpy man from memory!) at Trawdfyndd at about 62 miles
Is there much at Penmachno? From memory its a bit of a ghost town.
Not much after that till the home straight - or is there????
Info sharing please!

Yes the man at the garage in trawsfynydd is really miserable!! There is a shop in the village if desperate but I'd imagine it closed by the time people get there. Nothing at all that I can see from this point till you get round to Dina's where there is a cafe n bar. Again depends on timing other than that there's the garage at mallwyd, but then ur back near enough. As for water I'll be drinking Wales finest

There's a cafe at Dinas Mawddwy that opens at 10.00 (Merion Mill).
Petrol station at Mallwyd ... but you're pretty much home by then.
Pub at Penmachno ... they don't serve food but okay for a pint of coke and bag of nuts
Stock -up in Barmouth would be my plan.

How many bottles do most people plan to ride with? I think I have the food sorted but the drinking situation does concern me.

I'll have a 3 litre camelbak. And a sawyer mini filter to fill up at some river crossing, somewhere.

I tend to carry a single bottle and just fill up as and when. Saying that I don't tend to eat or drink much when riding, so this obviously wouldn't suit everyone.

I'm going to have one normal bottle and a travel tap. Travel tap if I'm gasping, normal and oasis tabs/SIS electrolyte tabs for streams/taps as appropriate.

Two bottles and some puritans... There won't be a shortage of water sources I imagine!

1 2litre bladder. Not going to bother with the filter as I'm hoping to not be out there long enough for any bad water to have an effect before I get home.

Bwa ha ha ha ha ha
In fairness, I had my Sawyer mini filter with me up when walking over Knoydart peninsula the other weekend, it takes bloody ages compared to just putting your bottle in. So much so that I didn't bother most of the time, just when I wasn't 100% sure with the water. I was fine

bottle on frame and 2ltr bladder on my back (only 1/2 filled to save weight)
I'm taking my sawyer filter with me as well so I can fill up whenever I need to, obviously if there is a cafe/Spar open I'll dive for a top up

The Conway Falls Cafe just outside Penmachno is good & could well be worth the detour..

(The coffee & cakes are very good)

I was thinking for breakfast on Sunday
Edit: Just checked (because i'm sure i've been served there later than 4.30) & their summer hours are as late as 9pm, but unfortunately not this time of year...
They said that they'd stay open if they knew there'd be a decent sized group coming in, which I told them probably wouldn't happen..

**SPAR SHOP UPDATE, SPAR SHOP UPDATE**
got a bit worried about whether the Spar in Trawsfynydd is still there so gave them a call.
Good news: Now rebranded to Premier Foods (located on Bryn Glas which is on / just off the main drag through town)
Bad News: Closes at 730pm.
So if you want refuelling there, its 62miles ish from the start, get your skates on!

Concerned about water.
Don't have a steripen or tabs for water purification. How good is stream/river water in Wales? Best taken from streams at high ground?
I know this is a pretty subjective question but any tips much appreciated...

Yes it is subjective, but a little common sense goes a long way.
Pick something fast running, the higher and clearer the better. Stay away from fields that have livestock in them and/or houses/industry/roads.
You're not going to be short of water
