999 text service - a useful thing to know

This came up on facebook - apparently mountaineers are being advised to register their phones with this service. Originally set up for the deaf - but is useful in situations where there isnt enough signal for a call but a text will get through.

Thought it would be an idea to share with others likely to be in the middle of nowhere!

Done, thanks. Hopefully it'll never come in useful!

Seems a no brainer really I quite often have enough battery/signal for text but not for calls

You should be good dealing with fire . . . May be trickier when travelling light though ;)
