'Why Bikepack' by Salsa

A short video by Salsa ... enjoyable enough but I can't help thinking a UK version would be a little different and possibly more 'entertaining'

Stu if you fancy making a "Why we bear bones" type video one weekend I'd happily shoot and cut it.

And sweary.
How about a spoof version with a death march in mid winter.

Can we have:-
- the sound of pissed chavs ranting stolen motorbikes instead of wolves
- a proper beard
- a keg of real ale instead of a single poncy can
- Ainsley Harriots cous cous out of packet
- pissing rain
- thick brummie accent for the voiceover

Quite cheesy! I was expecting some sort of punchline at the end and then nothing, it was just sentimental. I guess I expected more wit from Salsa. I think Dave's suggestions would make an ace spoof version!

There should also be a bit where a guy can't get the lid of his bottles of cider.....

I think a shot for shot parody of the Salsa one is in order. And like Dave said, a proper brummie voiceover, almost word for word.

Not just me that thought it was a bit duff then.
Sawing spindly snap-able twigs and a massive metal grille secreted somewhere......sheesh.

It was at the more romantic nostalgia end of the scale, but I thought it was alright to be honest
For a non bike packer if reckon it would be pretty compelling

I wondered whether we were heading for a 'Broke Back Mountain' moment at one point.
After spending far too many nights out I can't help but wonder how everything portrayed in some videos can be so perfect. No midges, no rain, a perfectly flat pitch, a still calm night, warm weather, no mechanicals, nothing left behind, no one looking like they're going to be sick, no awakward or locked gates, where are the rabid farm dogs? Where are the snorers and the people getting up for a slash at 3.00am? What about the thigh deep swollen rivers and neck deep bogs? The liquid sheep poor show all over your bottle? ... and they never ever feature anyone going int' Spar which is just crazy.

It's a fundamental difference between American and British culture. I grew up in the States, but moved to England in 2002. It took me a while to transition to British humour and culture. Now I look at American humour in a different way (and spell it differently).

I thought about doing that on my trip last week but it's a bit tricky shooting that on your own when you are trying to be quick cause you have left your bike on the high street unlocked. Decided to save it for the next time I'm doing a trip with someone.

Oh and about the video. The first time I watched it I thought it's nicely made and it captures an atmosphere quite well.
The second time I just thought what a bunch of cheesy bollocks.

That's why I'm only watching it once!

Nearly started fast forwarding, although I can stand 10 min POV only edits. Not the usual Salsa, I expected more.
Very cheesy indeed.
@composite: remember my little lock I used in Wales? Try one of those for your Spar shot - which I think of as a grand idea.
I got a plasticised 2.5 mm x 1.5 m cable from travel safety products. Weighs a scant 20 g. The small Abus lock another 23 g.
It's surely enough to keep your bike safe from opportunist theft.

Watched it one and thought it was ok, probably aimed at a beginner. With the above comments, I don't think I'll go for a take two!
