Planets have more or less aligned for me to have a pop at this on Friday, on my way up to the Shindig (like you do...)
Bike prepped. Gear prepped. Weather forecast set to sunny. Minimal wind. I'm about as prepped as I'm ever going to be. Don't think it'll get any better than this, though a touch more daylight might be good, we'll see. Aiming for a 4am start from Keswick.
To inspire me to keep going, you can all watch my progress here:

Good luck. Ground conditions were very good last weekend. The moor before Wasdale Head was firm.

That's a damn fine idea and I wish I'd have thought of it. I'll think of you as I drive past Friday night, flash a beacon toward Shap if you want picking up ;-)

Wow, fast time. Would have smashed the record until last September. That is best part of 5 miles per hour for the whole way around. I'm guessing you didn't do any of that wussy sleeping or eating?

Eating? Took all food wth me, but had lasagne and chips, coffee and pint of coke at pub in Seathwaite.
Sleeping. Does nodding off at the side if the trail count?

Shindig plans under evaluation, but I have now had 2.5 hours sleep.

Supremely so. Especially after being awake for 24 hours and having ridden over 100 miles.

No northern lights, but the moon was out and bright which meant there weren't as many stars visible as I would have expected.

Good ride Ian, little sleep by the trail eh? Was that a quick doze while riding or a proper snooze? Fantastic route isn't it ( but I wouldn't fancy Black Sail or the next pass in the dark!)

Steve, I sort of fell asleep while trudging along bit of boggy moorland. I found a rock to sit on, sat on it and kept drifting of. As I did so, I'd fall off the rock and wake up. This happened about three times.
Several people have said "fantastic route isn't it", but I can't work out what they are basing this comment on?

Hmm not sure about fantastic, but it's a varied loop with some quality riding.
You didn't like it?

Been there with the sleeping bit, but on the bike - quite disconcerting!
I thought the route was great because a lot of the riding is top notch (especially if you live somewhere quite crap for biking like warwickshire) and the scenery is stunning. However there is a bit too much hike a bike and black sail and walna scar are done the wrong way round. I really enjoyed the bits I did and would love to give it another go.

Not sure riding a bike for 27 hours and the concept of enjoyment are compatible.
Bits I liked. A lot I didn't at the time.

It is interesting, and a little reassuring that someone towards the top end of ability feels the same after completing the LL200

I got the impression from a tweet that you weren't that impressed. Care to elaborate, or shall I wait for the blog post?

Wait for the blog post. I've got time in the van tomorrow on the way back from the Shindig to assemble my thoughts.
