Not so much a bikepacking point of view question but more a general bike kit one.

Anyone runnning X Fusion Slide forks?

I've got them on my Cotic and would say I'm far than 100% convinced (my previous 29er had RS Reba's solo air by comparison).

I've got them on my Solaris, and I'm not convinced either, they do seem a bit better now I'm running them with 30% sag, but I wont be recommending them to anyone.

I've had to send them back twice as the rebound and lockout stopped working.

i owned some x fusion forks a few years ago when they 1st came out. pretty rubbish to be honest.
good old fashioned solo air forks by rockshox or marzocchi are by far the most reliable forks.
my new bike (when it lands) will be fitted with rockshox revelation 29r forks, which are fantastic.

My issues with them are:

1) they 'stick' after standing. So if I leave the bike overnight for e.g.. the next day I have to push hard on them a few times to get them moving. I spoke to Cotic and am told this is normal.

2) the above also means they seem sticky to start the ride but improve as it goes on BUT that means setting by sag has been a bit hit and miss.

3) travel. Mine are 100mm version. First couple of rides on my usual 'test' route or shakedown ride on any new bike / equipment, gave 80mm of travel with the psi set for my weight range (by fork leg sticker). However now it seems to have settled into only giving 50mm a ride (same route) yet my weight hasn't changed nor the terrain. At most there might be 5psi less in the tyres but I'm clutching at straws on that one. Even dropping 5psi out the forks as per x fusion manual didn't make a difference yesterday.*

The only non stock setting is that I quickened the rebound 2 clicks faster than how the bike was delivered (complete build by Cotic) to match how my dual air Reba forks feel on my fs.



* as a comparison my son, who rides my previous bike now, got 70mm out of his forks doing the same ride.

I remember speaking to Cotic and being told that they build all their cartridge headsets dry. Hmmm

Send 'em back under warranty if you can. A mate runs some on a 26" and rates them.

Might have too tbh.

Already had an issue with the front wheel / hub bearings so I have a feeling Cotic must think I'm either Looney or Mr. Fussy!

Out of interest how much psi did you need to drop to get to 30% sag compared to the recommended weight range psi?

Not sure how much psi I dropped to be honest, not much though, around 10% I think, but I was just measuring sag.

Mine also stick when left standing, but that goes after the first push.

Be interested to hear about the spec on your Solaris. Please?

I guess mine might take longer to get moving as 1) I'm light! & 2) they may well still need some more bedding in (depending how long it takes).
