Isn't all the Jones stuff made in Taiwan anyway?

I predict second mortgage pricing!

Tempting for rigid set ups. I'll start saving...

Might be some cheap* sets of alloy loops coming up.

* relatively speaking

Heard that these were due .. very nice indeed. Jeff's noted the number of racers using them I guess, good to see he's not set in materials ways. £262 is actually pretty fair vfm for carbon bars like that, well based on the prices the rest of the Jones kit is anyway.

They should be cheaper to produce than the alloy ones - not that production cost has much to do with Jones pricing

Production costs have nothing to do with pricing whatsoever, people are charged what the market is prepared to pay. Hence £100+ trainers, Klein bikes of old and yes, Jones bars. Oh, forgot to mention how much people are prepared to pay in order to say the house they live in is theirs when it's actually not until the mortgage is paid. That will be approximately three times what they borrow, probably more these days. No wonder bankers take the piss and think they can do what they like.

Can't think of much that's cheaper to make in carbon than alu. Tooling and labour etc.

Charlie the Bikemonger posted the press release - has some nice pics

https://www.facebook.com/Charlie.The.Bi ... 0033688008
(I hope that's a working link, you can never tell with faceboak)

"The Carbon 710mm Loop H-Bar weighs only 275g (this is 240g less than the (516g) aluminum version). It passes the same strict EN/EU mountain bike standards as the aluminum and titanium bars. It is identical to our existing Loop H-bars — all the same natural hand positions, control and comfort, but 47% lighter!!"

Edit to add, d'oh so of course they have a facebook page https://www.facebook.com/jonesbikes so you can relentlessly check it for updates throughout the day... :ugeek:

$295 or £185 ... cheaper than I thought. We'll have to wait and see what that actually equates to once they land in the UK.

That's actually quite reasonable considering the price of alloy Jones bars, I may even be tempted at that price.

Why doesn't someone copy the Jones bars at a sensible price? Is the market just too small?

Balls...
It went again....

Basically, Jeff could get analysis and simulation on his existing products and apply to new.

Other, copiers could do this too, but they rarely have the the same agenda or indeed be aware of the original output goal vs the input recieved

Also, you do have to pay a small amount (or large) to have ideas and expertise on your bike. Which to be honest is sometimes undervalued, Jones has some interesting ideas that I've yet to fully
