Everyone loves a new bike thread.

Just finished bolting the last bits to my new bike, once I sort the chain out I'll be able to ride it

Image

Not weighed it yet but it feels around 26lb (must be the Ti railed Knife saddle) ... the F+F were a belated birthday prezzie and luckily I had quite a few of the other bits laid around the workshop so it's not cost very much to piece together, maybe 150 quid.

Very nice! £150 sounds like a good deal... Hope you get to ride it soon!

Nice! I have a purple one sat in a box waiting to be built.. Unfortunately, the Middleburn cranks I was hoping to transfer from my Inbred have just - finally! - come off after liberal use of hacksaw, Dremel, lump hammer and cold chisel. So it will have to wait a little longer. Ho hum.

Very keen to bear how yours rides.

Headset should go in tomorrow and bits and pieces keep trickling through the post.

With the negotiations with the boss complete, and the green light illuminated, I finally have negotiated a new bike from a nice man called Sam
I'm super excited but I won't be able to collect until SSUK, and then will have to get some parts together. Not saying what it is yet, till I have it in my hands. Watch this space

What made you go for a Swift Chew?

Bit of a treat after good news elsewhere.

Wanted something more bikepacking related that could eat up the miles and has a good sized triangle. A move to adult wheels and leaves the trusty 456 for hooning around the woods.

Also you have a Stooge now. Imagine we we both turned up with the same bike :o

It'd be like a circus.

I think I'll take that as an insult ... although I'm not 100% certain.

Lovely bike that Stooge.

I've seen the long thread on STW and the purple looks great too.

Also recently changed bikes. I handed my Carve Expert over to my son and got myself a Solaris.

A couple more pics if anyone's interested. I've swapped the troublesome chainring and all's well ... in fact, all is bloody marvelous. I shall be riding off and over things on it shortly, so expect a full run-down on the blog soon(ish).

I'm loving these!

What's the stand over on the frame Stu?

I'm worried the one size frame may be the undoing of it for me! I'm on a 16" Scandel 26" at present which is just about right!

Cheers

Loads of stand-over room. I'm 5ft9, I've had several 16in On-Ones and the Stooge fits me fine.

As Charlie says ... lots of stand-over, quite a lot more than my 16" Inbred 29er or even my 15.5" PA.

5'7" with long legs (if such a thing's possible) for me and no issues, even Dee has plenty of room and she's 5'5" with a 29" inside leg measurement - I reckon she must have had 2" of daylight.

For some reason I have never been a fan of bikes who's top tube drops in a straight line to the rear axle but the looks of this bike have been steadily growing on me, I am looking forward to a review of it soon Stu, i'm hoping it rides as well as the maker claims.

I know you've all seen them before but i've now completed My Pugsley build and had my second and first proper ride on sunday. We did the MBR magazine Black Mountains Killer loop.

I haven't stopped grining since i got on the bike, cant believe how well it rides up and down and how fast.

Anyway pic of me and the iron horse
