Has anyone started to plan their 2012 yet? Any specific rides, goals, targets, etc?

I often have a few things in mind at this time of year but at present I've not formulated any list or (if I'm honest) clear idea of what next year will hold ;)

My 2012 bike packing diary so far....

M & B obviously (although if it's raining my co-pilot says he won't be doing it and that'll possibly leave me without transport there & back).

WRT in June

Tour de Mont Blanc in September

I've also eneterd the SSEC in southern Framce in April with the idea of doing a bivi road raid there and back from St Malo or Roscoff. (I haven't actually, as yet, secured domestic clearance on this one so it's still a bit of a pipedream)

Also I'm going to do my best to do the Devon Coast to Coast and the SDW this year. Both things that I can easily fit into a weekend but keep on delaying 'cos "I can do them anytime"

Also intending to get some sea kayaking/dinghy bivis in this year. 2011 was pretty bare as far as they were concerned. For 2012 I'm changing kayak clubs to one with some more like-minded members. The current one seems to suffer from paddlers who think they'll die if they're not under canvas.

To use some of this bloody gear I've been stockpiling  Don't care when or where but subject to all the various time and opportunity issues of having the usual full time job, 2.4, dog etc.

A January in Gibraltar and its tunnels means SFA at the start of 2012. Roll on Feb' :(

On my list, if i get round to it or not...

Mach n Back - Was hoping for wintery conditions, but it looks like it'll be wet and mild

WRT - Always on the list

BB200 - Need to finish it this year, so more training and hopefully work wont get in the way.

Lakes Tour - Thinking about a few days over Easter

Outer Hebrides/Highlands - A week or two June/September

Might have a crack at the Cairngorms loop

A few weekends of catching the train somewhere and then riding home

Fred Whitton is on the list

Elfsteden Rijwieltocht

Both are road affairs

Should be able to make BB200 in 2012 but M&B & WRT are out :( due to Mrs Fantastic planning stuff

At the moment I've got:

Cairngorm Loop - May
WRT - June
BB200 - October (defend joint title/ better time)

I may have a crack at an ITT of the Cambrian Way sometime too.

My list isn't bike packing specific more of a making the most of the outdoors type list thingy. For starters....

* Annual New Year blow out MTB loop on Dartmoor. Start at Princetown and finish at the Plume of Feathers with the mightist burgers you ever did see. - 2nd Jan

* 1 mile swim across the mouth of the River Fal from Pendennis Castle to St Mawes Castle - Late May

* WRT - June

* MTB trip to Chamonix - Mid Sept

* Didn't manage a canone bivi once this year so must do at get at least one in for 2012.

* Convince mates to join me for a few more bike bivis on Dartmoor. We had a great one in the latter part of the year but they don't have the lightweight gear and it proved hard work.

* More snorkelling and maybe a bit of spear fishing.

* Catch a bloody fish. Dispite loads of attempts this year the buggers eluded me. Nothing like catching a fresh mackerel and cooking your supper on the beach (...so they say!)

* Devon C2C should be on my list too really since it's on the doorstep. There, it is ;)

Happy New Year All :)

One main target with the bike, Switzerland Alpine Route 1 the guide book arrived the other day. If I'm out in Switzerland and I've timed my dates I really fancy having a crack at the Eiger bike too.

M&B / WRT / BB200

LEJOG

Outer Hebrides / Tour of the Cairngorms? Make a nice week or so.

Grenzstein Trophy? Might stay at home for summer 2012 though - plenty to do here.

Entered Brighton Big Dog and Keilder 100

Pennine Way officially opens in 2012 so will do that.

SDW - unfinished business there from years ago.

Tan Hill Inn to Cat & Fiddle - the two highest pubs in England.

Planning a Lakes tour at the moment over 3-5 days. May ask for some advice on this one.

EWE?

Welsh C2C,maybe the one IanB did or maybe the one Dave Buchanan did from Caernarfon area.

Might fly to New York and get a train to Buffalo and ride / train to Montreal and back to NYC through New England. Two cousin's in NY area as well. Think I can get Business Class and train fare for ~£800. This is the least likely of my plans for 2012.
