I have finally moved to the 21st century and bought a Dakota 20 after years of maps, coming over from Germmany for the BB and need a little help with the following on the GPS as the various google searches are yielding many results!

I have purchased the Garmin GB card from ioffer as helpfully listed on here plus a blank micro SD card.

1. How do i transfer .gpx files?
2. Do i need to use the SD card when i import said file
3. I use a mac so do i need any special software to import

1. Plug Gamin into MAC Via USB cable, open GARMIN driven then drop GPX files into the GPX folder. You can access them using Track Manager on the Dakota and display them by selecting "Show on Map"

3. No, your tracklog will be added to the GPC\Current\Current.gpx file until you do a reset. You can use the stopwatch start/stop function to separate these if you want into individual rides without a reset. These will appear in the Archive folder named stopwatch-DATETIME.gpx Simply drag them back onto the mac

I am a gps idiot so if I can do it pretty much anyone can ... here's a very simple method.

Insert your ioffer sd card into the Garmin (under the batteries) and leave it. There's no need to remove it from now on.

Okay, let's pretend it's Oct 8th and your BB200 email has arrived:

1/ Download the attached gpx file from the email onto your desktop.
2/ Plug the Garmin into your computer via the included gps cable and turn it on.
3/ Visit bikehike.co.uk and go to course creator.
4/ Click 'load route' and select the BB200 gpx file from your desktop.
5/ Route will open overlayed on OS 1:50k mapping.
6/ Select save route on the bikehike menu and then select save to gps device.
7/ Bikehike will transfer the route to your Garmin ... it's now ready to use. You'll find it under the Route Manager button.
