Aye, just one of many ... if things carry on, then sooner or later the whole of mid Wales will just become one big wind farm. The local communities are being sold up the river and royally shafted. At last years local elections all the candidates stated they would oppose any new developments ... guess what? They changed their minds.
If anyone's interested 'The Windfarm Scam' by Dr John Etherington makes good reading.

They were making my ex employer loads a wonga. Rate of new ones should slow down, govt subsidies reduced/reducing earlier than expected and capacity of the network can't quite manage it right now, they often need load banks to shed the extra production in low demand times... That's from what I remember, things might have changed a bit, but I doubt it.

I've been thinking about this lately and not wishing to turn it into a STW style argument, what are the alternatives?
-Fracking but this has a lot of negative points
-Wind power but the Scots (John Muir trust) are against this (as are other areas)
-Gas but greenpeace appear to protest whenever another country explores new areas
-Can't see coal or nuclear making a 'come back'
So, does this just leave tidal power (not sure how feasible this is) and solar panels on rooftops (again, is this enough to power our homes?)?

Don't hold your breath, as far as I know all wind farm applications are on ice just now while WG carries out a review of its alternative energy policies. I don't have a direct reference, just "aware" of it in the context of an application that affects some of "my" sites.

Hinckley Point & Sizewell C show Nuclear is definitely making a comeback!

I forgot about EDF doing this. If memory serves me correctly, weren't they going to export the energy back to France?

Plenty of local demand I'd have thought?
