Wow! Thank you Mr Barrington for a fab start to my day. Fantastic footage. Thanks for taking the time to shoot this especially as you were in a race. Loved the morning of Day 3, eerie and mystical. Magnificent scenery. Hope the Achilles is healing. :-bd

Thanks all. Always a tentative moment releasing a video and not knowing what people will think. Lots of comments today though to leave me feeling happy that it was all worthwhile (even if I didn't make it to the finish...)

Great video.

Shows off the good and bad bits of the trail really well and gives an idea of the scale of the scenery. That should provide those unfamiliar with the terrain a pretty good idea of what it's like.

Very moving monologue at the end too.

Epic stuff. Looked difficult to make the decision to pull out of the race but sounds like the right one. Superb film. Watched it twice. You make very good films Ian.
Good luck for next year.

Lovin the soundtrack, especially when the pipes cut back in on that descent. Video's ace too.

Enjoyed that Ian, epic scenery - I'll bet the 'little niggle' was a bit of an understatement. Hope it clears up quick and good luck next time.

Yes a great video with some great footage and music, brave decision for pulling the plug, all the best on the recovery.

Thanks for your kind words guys.

I owe a small debt of thanks to Composite for the tutoring on the music for the Against the Elements video. I learnt the effects of cutting on the beat, and both tracks for this film (that second track especially) was perfect for doing it. The cutting in of the bagpipes as you come out of the clouds was intended, but filling the preceding 1:36 with sufficient interest and flow was tricky!

Great vid, editing is getting really good, found it very easy to watch, the terrain looks amazing and hard work.

...and you know the bit when you get all emotional and scratch.....

"I'd 'ave bunny hopped that bit" :-bd

Very nicely done.

I liked it when the music turned a little more sinister when the weather / terrain did.

Also, intriguing to see the emotion in your face when filming your scratch. Must have been tough to film.

Cheers Ian. Fantastic vid :-bd

It took me to those magic places.

This and also the Against the Elements show your talent in capturing the surrounding atmosphere and also the riders moods. This during such a stark exertion, with a GoPro... Hats off!

Glad you liked it. I'd listened to a lot of Scottish music in the lead up to the race and I'd more or less settled on these two Peatbog Faeries tracks before hand, but without knowing exactly how I was going to use them. With the GoPro you never know until you get home whether or not the footage you've captured is any good or not.... Things started to come together when I reviewed the footage and saw the obvious change in mood.

Thanks :)
I guess the more I do the more I learn, but given my lack of familiarity with the GoPro (I left the Contour behind in the end), I am quite happy with what I've been able to capture with it.
