Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo

Post by Richpips »

I've read Stuart's review of the Lunar Solo, has anyone else got one?

What do you think?

I currently have a finger poised over the "buy" button.

I'd been dreaming up a tent design for Scottish summers and when I explained it to folk, they told me it already existed...

I saw the LE version (with the sturdier floor) and almost bought one of those. My only concern with the standard version is that the floor might be a bit fragile. That would mean taking something else to use as a footprint, adding to the weight.....

Love mine.
In stronger winds the sides can be pushed in considerably but there are extra guy loops to counteract this.
Mr gecko on here has just got one after seeing mine on WRT this year.

I've got one. Ticks all the boxes. I use a sheet of polycro as a footprint.
Here it is in action:

Got mine for my birthday yesterday. Not put it up yet but expecting good things. Need to seal the seams when you first get it so buy some silnet at the same time if you get one.

You might find that there's no need ... give it a hose pipe test first. I've a few shelters/tarps that aren't sealed and don't leak.

I got one last month but not had chance to use it in the wilds.

Although the carbon pole does seem a little too flexi in the back garden pitching test.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I dig it into the ground a little bit.

I prefer a side porch like the Lunar. It's easier to get in and out (especially past anything stored in the porch) and gives a more open view.

I really don't think you'll be disappointed Dave.

I've just this minute been talking to Marc about producing Pole-a-Bear pole sets for them.

Cheers Dan for the tip, I stuck the pole in the ground a couple of inches and in a blustery back garden this afternoon it was perfect. :-bd

Obvious question about the Lunar Solo then: how is it for condensation in a UK climate?

Pulled that close to the ground wont help condensation.

I was just thinking the same thing.

As a rule (and set a few inches higher) condensation isn't much of an issue. Obviously certain nights will be worse than others but that's the same for everything.

EDIT: This is the sort of height you should be aiming for.

That pole must be angled forward a few degree's then?

Could it not just be a longer pole?

EDIT: John, what length pole are you using? The latest generation of Lunar's are designed to use a longer pole than the old ones.
