Really Stupid Question - Bio Ethanol fuel

Apologies if this is a really stupid question, I've heard people talk about bio-ethanol as a fuel

I've got one of Stu's (great) meths burners and my current supply of meths has just ran out, I was in Wilkinsons at lunchtime and noticed that they sell bio-ethanol.

Is this used in meths burners as an alternative if so any advantage/disadvantage? Sorry if its an idiot question.

I use it all the time, its great
The only downside is that it burns a bit more ferociously than meths, but not really an issue cause its so cheap
