Getting a Rooster from Singular. Latest update:
Hi all you wonderful Rooster backers!
I have managed to secure some good pricing on Velocity Dually wheelsets and rims. I have been using these rims for testing on the Rooster and they have proven to be excellent. The rims are all now made in the USA and the quality is really very good. They are light for their size, strong and run tubeless easily. The wheels are all very well built in the USA and use quality parts. The Comp and Pro versions get a nicer quality hub, the front of which is 15mm convertible. The Comp uses DT Competition spokes, the Pro is the same but uses Sapim CX-Rays.
Velocity Dually 'Standard' Wheelset - QR front and rear. £320
Velocity Dually 'Comp' Wheelset - convertible front and QR rear. £420
Velocity Dually 'Pro' Wheelset - convertible front and QR rear. £530
All wheels are supplied with tubeless tape and valves fitted.
Velocity Dually rim only £80
If you would like to take up any of these offers you need to let me know as soon as possible and a 50% down-payment needs to be received by the end of May. Full payment is needed before they ship to you - which will be together with the frame in September. Please send a mail to
sam@singularcycles.com if you want to get on board.
Best regards,
Sam
P.S. I am still working on something for tyres as well.
P.P.S. These prices include VAT and delivery in the UK, additional shipping cost may be required outside the UK.
I have absolutely no idea whether this is a good deal or whether alternatives exist. Anyone who knows more about this and can offer some pointers (or just take the p1ss out of an early adopter / band-wagon-jumper

) would be appreciated.

I think the rims are usually a shade over £100 each, so £320 for a pair of wheels seems fair ... I would like to know what the hubs were though.

Looks like something "in house", at least branded, on the £320 set:
Bit more info here:
http://www.velocityusa.com/product/whee ... d-wheelset
£420 set:
http://www.velocityusa.com/product/whee ... p-wheelset
£530 set:
http://www.velocityusa.com/product/whee ... o-wheelset
I can get Hope hubs at a good price so maybe just rims and get them built up.
Who else does 29+ - Surly?

lots of Dually rims out there now, I'm only aware of one friend twatting his rim but not beyond repair
I was concerned about my Rabbit Holes, being heavy and clumsy, but no issues so far
£320 seems a good price, as always its pretty much down to the wheel builder, if Sam is happy with them then thats a good sign

Might be missing the point a bit but I don't think the stooge at WRT had "special" rims and had a Knard on the front.

I have dually rims. They are very nice. a sniff over 700g each on the scales of doom.
Built up easily, went tubeless with a stip of stans wide tape easily.
Seem tough enough so far.
Thats a very good price too, for the rims
Cant speak for the hubs or build in particular.
Tyres are about 65 normally for the 120tpi which is the lighter one. Mine works tubeless.

I'm running North Paw rims on my Travers, lighter than Rabbit Holes as well.

10/10 from me so far, overtook a roadie this morning on mine running at 18psi, he wasn't happy

No ... they were fitted to the Travers I had on test. Very nice bit of kit.

Sorry I didn't check the link, I just did a quick search in the middle of a bit of work.
They defiantly are 29er rims here they are next to a normal 29er rear tyre.

I'm not sure about those hubs - I've seen something on MTBR or similar about Velocity hubs being re-branded Formula hubs - ATM I think I'm more likely to buy a pair of the rims and get them built onto a pair of s/h Hope hubs

I think that was kind of what I was saying. The duallys went tubeless with no faff really. Just had to go hell for leather with the pump. ( might have used a bit of soapy water too with the knard, I forget now)
Personally I only ride tubeless now

Travers are doing a deal:
http://www.traversbikes.com/store/p40/R ... w_rim.html
Hope hub, Northpaw rim, built for £199.
Given a Hope hub is c.£130(?) retail and the rims are £129 seems like quite a deal. Should be £259 but reduced at mo.
I reckon 1 of those and a rim off Sam might be the most cost effective combo.

This a nice deal at Travers - I've just mailed them to see if they can do a front wheel as well - if they do I'll probably go for a pair of those

You've never seen my bikes have you? It'd be great if unmatched rims was the least of the potential "afronts"
Steve - I asked that as well. Let me know if he comes back to you and vice-versa.
Ordered a rear anyway.

Anyone heard from Travers? The Hope/Bearpaw package is no longer on the website so I'm assuming they've sold out

I've had a couple of emails to say mine would be despatched today as he'd been out and about over last few days.

Heard nothing back from Travers so have pre-ordered the Duallys off Sam - Bulb hub to go on the rear, just need to find a front now
