How long a piece do you need as I have two carbon seat posts here in two different sizes. If they are going to be of use then they are yours. Can measure and photo them later if you want.

There are varying diameter roll wrapped carbon tubes available from easy composites that should be good for this application, they're relatively cheap to but I think they only do 0.5m minimum lengths.

All sorted now i think/hope. Cheers James for the offer but ive used two of the light extension bars thingys that are on ebay as i needed another bracket anyhow and stuck the carbon tubes together.....and this is what it looks like now, just needs to stop raining now so i can go out and try it!

ive removed the two inner end bungs and strengthened the tube up with a piece of wood fixed inside both tubes across the joint now

At least now my cables are not under any kind of pressure due to the harness pulling tight against them, the only one thing i could of done with was the plastic locking clips being alittle further down the webbing so they dont sit against the bars but it should be fine

Nice idea. Let us know how it tests. Been rather obsessed with cable compression since my rear brake cable popped out of the reservoir after two bumpy days in the Peak District. Thankfully it happened in my driveway.

The carbon looks a bit better than white plastic overflow!

Well it works a treat went out last night for a bivy and went off road to test it, no movement in the harness what so ever actually holds it firmer than direct to the bars!

Why not miss out the bars and go straight from the bar extender to the top of the forks?

Straps going over the bar should take some pressure off the extender clamps, but may not be an issue. Nice solution all-round though, very neat and a good spot to mount a light etc.

You might be asking a bit much of the extender clamp to grip the bars under tension - both friction against the bar and torsion as the pull is off centre.

Just a thought, quite a few forces in play even going over the extender and bar.
No golden bullet

Cheers Ian, it works a treat. I was just abit worried about the pressure on the plastic clips really. I might pm u when i get a chance about asking beth about a mod to it. mike
