An interesting stat to make holiday places more cycle friendly.
http://www.travelpulse.com/news/tour-op ... -east.html
"According to the European Cyclists Federation, a “visiting cyclist spends an average of £25 per day on locally provided food and services, compared to car-borne visitors who spend £7.30."
So how can we tell those who need to know?
An interesting stat

Re: An interesting stat
I've had this conversation a few times with the local 'powers that be'. I questioned why they promote and encourage motorsport (rallying, enduro, etc) and pretty much ignore walking, cycling, etc. I tried explaining that walkers and cyclists were much more likely to spend money in the local shops, pubs and cafes because they aren't able to carry much ... they also have no windows from which to throw their rubbish

Quite noticeable my miles per £ while cycling are terrible compared to driving, loads more food and coffee ;-) good point.

I think the difference is that food is our fuel, so when we're hungry we need to eat to keep moving, whereas if you're peckish in the car you can keep driving potentially all the way home and just feel a bit peckish.
