New sleeping system needed

My singleskin tent has died, it weighed sub 1kilo, packed down small and it was tall enough that I could sit upright in it.

So, I'm on the lookout for something new. I already have an alpkit bivi bag, so getting their 3.5 bicycle tarp is appealing as a cheap and light setup. Before I click and buy it, I've also thought about two other options,
-terra nova one man tent
-rab event bivi bag (which looks ideal for the rovaniemi 150 as I can shelter inside for a few hours kip if needs be without faffing with tarp/tent)

Any thoughts on these options?

I have been using the Alpkit HunkaXL and the RIG7, with a set of Stu's poles for a while and I'm very happy with it. used it in some pretty bad weather and stayed warm and dry.

Recently got a RIG3.5 for the summer/racing but not used it yet.

I have a Terra Nova Laser. Absolutely love it.

As you've said with your last bicycle, it's big enough to sit up in. Two skins, but you can always take the inner out and just use the outer shell if space/weight is that much of a concern. Pretty solid to. I've used it in some stupid winds considering the type of stuff it's designed for and it's held up fine. Never had an issue with getting wet either.

I've got a terra nova photon too. A great tent for one!

Also have a variety of tarps.

There's a bit of a cost difference between an AK 3.5 and a TN tent though...

Easton Kilo.
Approx 800g, double skin.
About £250 if you do some google searching.
Very happy with mine so far.

I've got a TN Argon, they don't seem to make it any more but it weighs bugger all and you can fit two in and have kit storage/doors on both sides.

There's a review that Stu did here:

Cheers for the replies, some good options to think of. The lunar solo looks good, so will look into that option, but then the alpkit bicycle is so well priced... Hmmmm!

I nearly bought one of these a month or two back. It looks very versatile and great value http://www.theoutdoorsstation.co.uk/201 ... nt-review/

TN Laser Comp is a great tent. Mine has been up in all weathers, with no issues. Weighs about 900g. However, I've also got a bivi and tarp setup which wins on weight.

Don't consider only the weight. A bivvy and tarp will give much more flexibility in finding a suitable pitch.

Cheers for all the suggestions, I've just bought a terra nova competition tarp as it was £35 instead of £50.

I was really interested in this

but I struggled to justify it to myself, which is a shame
