... to spend my birthday money on. Something bike/ bikepacking related - how would you spend £100?

Train or plane ticket to somewhere you've never been before. Return ticket optional.

That would be nice, but on this occasion it probably needs to be a tangible item, or I'm going to have two unhappy children and a miffed wife :|

Accept the miffed-ness in the knowledge you had a great time.

How about some blingy bike bits _ personalised stem caps, hand painted forks, Chris King bits etc? Are you after something worth having or trying to spend £100?

Goggles, as in ski goggles for riding your fat bike in the snow in a blizzard?

Can't believe no one has suggested beer or whisky...

Some good suggestions so far, thanks.

Cuben base for hexamid is a good idea, but I have some silnylon here that I intended to do some MYOG with.

Oakleys. Everyone likes Oakleys. Tempted.

I have a PHD Minim Ultra vest already...

Bike is fairly bling already and can't think of anything on it I'd change just now.

Kind of wanted to buy something I wouldn't ordinarily buy, rather than run of the mill components.

Whiskey collection is already pretty good.

Was tempted by an Exposure Joystick, seeing as they're on offer at Rutland.
If I could find a Terra Nova Discovery Lite bivi for £100, I think I'd have one. Cheapest I've seen is £140.

Alternative is to flog my recently acquired Sony camera that I'm not especially happy with and put the money to this and get a different camera.

I would spend it on a romantic weekend with one you hold dear. And if the bike doesn't appeal take the wife. You could make it an experience one of you would never forget!

And double bonus brownie points :-bd

Waiting for a ti frame with a tapered headtube before getting some of those Whiskey carbon forks...

Rear mech - I have one already - just can't bring myself to fit it yet :-P

Bibs. I have a pair of Bognor ones that refuse to die. Must be 15 years old...

Tending towards flogging the camera (I have an LX3 anyway), and getting a Revo.

I don't normally have a problem spending money, not sure what's the matter with me...

Yeah but you can never have too much bling.

Do a one ton weekend, take lots of photos, write lots of words, pitch it to Jenn at Singletrack, turn one hundred pounds into two hundred pounds ;-)

Revo is very good unless your going slowly up hill. I have to admit to using my Diablo on top of my hat for the last climb to Penrhos Isaf.
Other than that I'm enjoying it. Personally, I think you'll get a lot of use out of one.

I picked up one of those and the bike show the other week. Put it down fairly quickly after being told it was £120

I don't go slowly uphill ;)
This option has it limitations too, as ideally I'd like a thru axle hub, but can't get a thru axle fork with a straight steerer. Nothing is as easy as it used to be...

Of all the wives in all the world, it would not be good to miff mine, especially when I want a new frame bag sometime... [-X

Why not get a thru axle one and an adapter? For when you can use a thru axle?

The exposure branded hub (PD-8X) is 15mm bolt through but comes with an adapter to run a 9mm QR.
I've been waiting for this hub to run with both bikes.

Future proofing. :geek:

Sorry to hijack, is that all of them? I've got one and just assumed it was QR only? I'll have to have a look....

PD-8 is 9mm QR
PD-8X is 15mm bolt through.

I got my PD-8X through Evans and it came with a 9mm adapter. I currently use a 15mm bolt through, so have not used the adapter yet as I'm awaiting my new frame and fork.

Not sure if all PD-8X's(non Evans) come with the adapter, although you can get them through ebay for only a handful of pounds.

Jameso should be able to enlighten you I expect.
