Stumbled across the ride out from Marble arch on Saturday on a trip through London. Got a free T-shirt and did a nice touristy ride behind some nutter on a Penny farthing and a rag tag peloton past lots of sights. Kev of this parish was there to.
Watched 3 of them start, then as it had delayed my plans I set off after them. They joked when interviewed that they had no idea how to geh to Dover and it was true. They were just looking for signposts.

Fran's seatpost broke yesterday which has caused her to be delayed - a long with strong headwinds. Hoping to get it fixed in Amiens.

Lee's father is supporting him and forgot his passport so headed back to Devon to get it. All well and good but he took Lee's passport with him holding Lee p outside Folkestone.

Hopefully will all go well for them now.

And Briefne, as well as Jack were in Brussels last night - Jack just needs to keep going!

Wow what a carry on, hope the more tricky parts of the journey go better for them.

I'll vouch for the headwinds going east out here at the moment, at least the weather is ace all the rain at night so far.

Insert a straight stick trimmed to correct length and diameter into seat tube, place seat post over the top*. Ride to next town and buy a new seat clamp. Simples.

Yesterday Briefne ran out of spare tubes and this morning Lee's gears have packed up and he is getting a 16 mile lift to a shop for them to be fixed.

The Guinness record does not differentiate between supported or not supported. (You cannot be drafted though as a German cyclist was last year). The organisers have just put on two sections either supported (Lee and Briefne) or unsupported (Fran) starting at the same time. Prasad said on FB he was one hour from starting in Bangkok but nothing heard from him since. He has had tracker problems I understand.

Briefne is heading through terrain I know from SSEC a few years ago South of Namur and on to Bastogne and into Luxembourg. I toured this area in 2012, really beautiful and wondering about going back later this year.

I'm sorry, it's awful to laugh at someone's misfortunes but there's something about her delivery that just made me titter. I do hope she gets sorted though

10 out of 10 on the optimism scale for embarking on this unsupported with no mechanical skills (as she says in the clip). The next few thousand miles will be a great learning opportunity
