Nearly a SPOT Tracker Alternative

Post by D Faff Master »

Just about to fly out to Spain for a weeks cycle touring (not bikepacking this time).

Was going to bring my SPOT but thought it was a bit of overkill. While setting up my Spotwalla page I come across this.
http://bubblergps.com

I've downloaded the android app. And going to try it out when I'm away.

I'll post an update when I get back to let you know how successful it has been.

This looks interesting (for short rides at least) and so will be testing it out on a little run shortly.

Think you would need a means of keeping your phone charged to make it viable as gps is big battery drain. I tried using the buddy tracker in view ranger as a SPOT alternative on a trip into the peak recently and my phone died within 3hr!

Well I tried it out on my trip and I could never get it to work. So that's the end of that...
