It's getting popular that's the second one I've heard about in as many days ... details of the other one when I've had the 'nod' ;)

Very interesting. Was planning to do the Grenzstein Trophy next year. Hope dates don't clash or I may need to reconsider.

What it worrying is that I have been given the OK by the wife to do this :!:

Looks to be very exciting indeed. I suspect navigation will be my biggest headache, thats a lot of maps to sort!!

Good luck in getting it together Aiden. June would be ideal ;)

Now that's a proper adventure. Hope I'm able to take part. Will be great to see how the route takes shape.

Primed here too. Pass from the wife sorted, 2012 training started after a December R&R month.

One big issue is whether I can afford an Etrex 30 and UK OS mapping before July :?

Best stop messing about and get my portion of the route converted to gpx ;)

Having been focussing on this for the last few months, the week before entries open I've had to admit defeat as it overlap's my partners summer holidays (she's a teacher).

Pretty depressed about it to be honest. 2012 is looking like the first year in five without a multiday bike event in it.

Looks like it's shaping up to be one heck of a route. I'll have to remain a spectator this year (and next), but I will be following with interest as the race unfolds.

Did you miss this bit on the EWE site Dyffers?
This is a race. If you are a “finisher” and not a “racer”, don’t bother. Just download the route and ride it in your own time.

That's the bit thats making me hesitate, that and the letter of intent.

But then I guess that's the point, you need to be 100% committed. If I can clear it in my head, then I'm in. If not, then it'll wait for another year.

Still only 5 riders on the start list though.

1280 miles ... that's quite a long way ;)

I know what my (fairly short) section's like, if everyone's is similar it'll be one hell of a ride!

There is a ass-load of climbing on that route as well. What a fantastic ride it's going to be for those doing it this year. Just thinking about it right now is making my eyes water though. Perhaps in a couple of years :D

Looking at the route profile, I'm glad to see that Ian and my Welsh section doesn't let the side down with ascent/descent ;)

Are you responsible for including that horrible little stretch of tricky trail just to the south of a lovely smooth track/road, just before Claerwen? Good effort :D

I'd been looking at possible routes for a trip I'm planning in July. Looks like I'll be riding the reverse of the Cannock - Chepstow section. :D 360 miles in 5 days sould be manageable, but I don't suppose I'll be able to get feedback on the route back to Aidan in time.

No, I believe that's down to Ian. I will hold my hand up to ... going UP Foel Fadian :D
