5/6th April

This weekend has suddenly become free :(
I guess a number of people have cashed in brownie points etc for the event. Just wondering if folks had other ideas for the weekend.
Composite mentioned on Twitter doing a TCW double and I had wondered about a one way traverse of TCW stopping in a bothy. Or doing a PBW E2E or just the Southern section with MTL thrown in.
Not expecting a 140 rider peloton heading off from some other spot and certainly not doing the race route (although TCW uses a little of it). Perhaps a few groups using the weekend for riding somewhere. Any thoughts?

Very interested. Don't want to loose my weekend!

I'd definitely be up for a tcw single with a bothy stop.
Have got an empty car so anyone interested from London /south East let me know.

Good idea Kevin, I quite fancy the seaside, maybe down towards New Quay or possibly a trip to the Preseli hills or perhaps somewhere to St Davids and back ... maps are now spread about everywhere

I was considering doing the tcw instead (both directions) at a relatively sedate pace. I wanted to do that at some point this year anyway so it makes sense now that weekend is free.
Happy to ride with others if any one is doing it.

Open to offer's because knowing my luck if the date is re arranged I'm bound to be doing something else.
I don't want to waste the pass and the fact that I stayed sober(ish) on New Years Eve to enter it means I don't want to stay home.
I was thinking of something in the Lakes, but could easily change this, mid Friday start, ride all day Saturday, back to the car for lunchtime on Sunday.

Are there links to these routes as not familiar with any of them. Cheers

I'm 99% sure I'm going to aim for doing the TCW double. I might stop in at the bothy on my way back in the similar vain to how Ian did his double.

Not sure if these are the latest versions or (were ever 100% correct tbh) of the PBW but they are the versions I have.
End to End EDIT: This one seems to be very sort, wonder if the file is broken.

Double (which is not just there and back)

Hi Dan - could be a potential car-cost-sharer here, based near Wendover / Aston Hill. Work commitments mean I can't be sure if I'm around early-mid April now, just registering interest in a social TCW ride.

A lot of talk about the TCW ... would anyone be interested in another version, still from the Welsh / English border but actually finishing at the coast rather than a random spot dictated by running out of time when the route was first ridden, ie Dyfi Junction
The majority of the route is already in my head, I'd just need to join a few dots up and produce a gpx for it.

sounds like a good plan , as long you don't put in to many bog death marches

Yep. I've got a pass so would be up for anything
Jameso - happy to sort out travel arrangements nearer the time although I might take the Friday off too. Sure we can sort something out.

Pleased thread has got people thinking about using the weekend positively after the bad news.
Stu has mentioned that extension before could be interesting.
For me I doubt I can do TCW double in 2 days so for me it is either a longer trip or train / shuttle back. Though may still do some PBW thing.
It is Herself's birthday on 3rd April so for me even starting on a Friday would be a problem but a Monday finish is fine for me.

I have the Friday and Monday off already. Hmm maybe a more leisurely paced trip with others might be in order. I could always do my double ITT attempt another weekend.

I was thinking of a 2-3 day coast to coast, refining the route I did a few years back with Jack, Kevin & Mark

Also the route Matt Page did a few months ago that he has written up in the current Outdoor Fitness from Caernarfon to Cardiff - 340km 7,000+ metres of climb.

Also.....for people who might be interested in doing something a bit more Northern I have a 250k route around the Dales in my head. Circular route so no logistics to worry about.
I* was planning on waiting until 2015 to publish the route, to allow a new route each year and give me to recce the sections I've never ridden.
If people are interested then i'm sure I can make it happen
*Sorry, should say that Ian/Greenmug has but in a lot of effort as well
(hopefully the Dales will be dry and i'll pull my finger out to get out and ride bits)

Oooooo coast to coast certainly trumps TCW for me if it's an open invitation. I would definitely be interested in that.
I grew up in Cardiff so it would be an ideal ending to get a warm bed somewhere. :)

My coast to Coast route doesn't finish in Cardiff but in the Gower (nicer chips at Worm's Head). I'll keep in touch with more details, but likely a Friday PM start at the Half Way Cafe at the north end of the Great Orme.
