Now winters aproaching thinking of ways to stay a bit warmer. Looking at sleeping bag liners to add a few more degrees to my sleeping bag which is rated to around -2c.

Looking at options between cotton/silk/thermolight bags (may use instead of the normal bag in summer)

Any experiences/recomendations before i part with my cash?

I've only used a cheap one from Go Outdoors, but I found I just got twisted up and it felt really restrictive. I prefer to sleep in clothes for extra insulation.

I have thought about sewing in some velcro to try to keep the liner in place, would be good for keeping the bag cleaner too.

I have one of these http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/ ... liner.html

Like Nick says, all liners can be a pain as you get tangled up in them. I'm going to try using it on the outside of the bag. I've had good results using two bags as long as your outer bag has enough room to allow the inner to loft. There's a company called Cocoon that do a dedicated outer bag like this http://www.designsalt.com/detail.asp?pa ... DUCT_ID=OB

Just remembered seeing this. http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic ... ightmm-bag Would make a superb inner bag for winter and also make a good summer bag on its own.

i've got the DD (of hammocks fame) sleeper was just over a tenner on ebay. adds a degree or two to the bag but I also use it to keep the bag clean - much easier to clean (or replace) a liner than a nice down bag.
I never really get tangled in it?

it also has a pillow bit - but i've never used it - i think its for hostel use.

I've got a lovely silk one and it's not tangled so far, probably be cause it's so sheer. Be warned though, it's bloody freezing for the first 30 seconds!
I use it all the time to keep my bag clean rather than improve the temp rating
