Recommend me some grippy jelly bar tape

Having pressed the Fargo into commuter duty the bar tape will be toast soon enough (why does riding into work make such a mess?) and I fancy something grippy & shock absorbing for the Gravel race extravaganza.

Anyone care to make a recommendation?

I like the Cinelli gel cork tape, if you overlap it load is lovely and cushiony
Grippy to even when damp

Wiggle has various hideous stripey tapes in it's sale. (and okay some normal looking ones too)

You're not kidding. 200 miles staring at some that stuff would send my eyes screwy. The glow in the dark looked fun (although reviews say it doesn't last long).

The 3.2mm thick Lizard Skins stuff looks like it might be worth a punt.....

Lizard Skins DSP is excellent. It has a very "sticky" surface that means you don't have to grip the bars so tightly, meaning less trail buzz.

For ultimate comfort, stick some Fizik Gel underneath!

Oh ho! I didn't see the glow in the dark!

PS if anyone knows where I can get tartan bar tape that would be great

Sella Italia XL stuff here ... I recal it's something like 4mm thick but has fluted edges so still goes on smoothly. I've not found it lacking in grip either.

Only available in white or black though ;)

EDIT: I quite fancy trying the ESI stuff but it's fairly expensive.

Second the Lizards Skins DSP tape. It is expensive but mine has out lasted very well on my Jones bars and on my road bike

cinelli gel pads are great. - just make sure you position it right before wrapping.
cinelli gel cork tape is good.

A couple of years ago i met big maggy - his bike had a double wrap of tape from the hoods back. i tried it this weekend and so far it's great. stupidly fat to hold the tops (i find this slightly annoying) but holding on the hoods in a relaxed position (where i ride most of the time) it's great.
