XT chainsets?????

Post by Taylor »

Whats the difference between an M780 and a M782?
I can see they've got different size bolt circles. What does that mean?
M782 has lower gearing/less teeth.

I think you've answered your own question there.

Bolt Circil Diameter = the bolt pattern http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheel_sizing#Bolt_circle

The 'only' difference is related to the ring sizes. The 30t middle ring on the 782 requires the use of a different spider / bcd, hence the 96mm spacing rather than the more usual 110mm / 64mm.

If you think the 22/30/40 will be better for you than the 24/32/42 buy the 782 ... if not then just buy the cheapest.

Yes Zippy you're right, I should have typed 104 ... I've obviously spent far too long looking at cx rings ;)
