Is a flat bar crosser just a hybrid?

Or is there a difference?*

I was messing about with my collection of CX bits last night and I popped a pair of straight bars on to make it easier to wheel about ... and I quite liked the look of it. ;)

*Not that it really matters a toss.

Aren't crossers, like road bikes, supposed to be a little shorter in the TT to allow for a longer stem and to get the "correct" body position when in the drops and (a little less so) on the hoods?

So if you put a flat bar on it probably replicates somethings closer to being on the flats, but a bit wider.

:?

I think you got it with the last bit, if it works, who cares 8-)

More than likely yes, although i'm not sure anyones bothered.

Drops do take a bit of time to adjust to after riding with flat bars, but the amount of hand positions available make it worthwhile.

My crosslight pro6 is flatbarred, as it's used for commuting duties and when I made it it meant I could easily get hydraulic dics on it.
Anyway, I've been told by my friends it's no longer a cross bike...and I don't think I can technically race in a proper UCI regs cross race (but I suspect it would be allowed on a Crikey, how much supercross or whatever it's called).

What are the rules for the 3 peaks? I believe they're quite picky about the bikes, so if it matches their description, then it's a crosser

Is a flat bar crosser just a hybrid?
Yes, but only a thinly disguised one. You'd need to add a basket and a rack for maximum effect ;)

Flat bars were banned at the 3 peaks, then a rule change allowed them if they were less than 500 mm wide ... the rules have changed again and they're banned once more ;)

Drops it is then ... telling people I've built a 'Gravel bike' 'Gravel racer' or 'Crosser' is fine but "I've just built a Gravel hybrid" :?
