Heading up to winscar reservoir with my cousin in law to introduce him in to this way of life.
Taking the transpennine way /route 62 to get the from manchester if you fancy a night under the harvest moon and stars then feel free to jump on board.
I am aiming to camp on the northwest side near a small set of trees,
Failing that we will be at the upper winlenden reservoir just south of the first one.

I'll be riding down from Halifax but not yet sorted out a route yet, may go direct or follow the pennine bridle way down to the transpennine and ride in with you.
Forecast says its due to bounce it down for an hour at 6 so it may be worth having a plan B

Accuweather says rain about 4-6 at dunford bridge which is near the res. Shame there's not a pub nearby but if you did fancy sheltering in a pub the dog and patridge is 4 miles away (along the woodhead pass though so not the nicest road to ride at any time but especially in manky weather), or there are pubs in Penistone about 6 miles from the resevoir - but also has a chippy.

I guess if we are aiming to meet at 6 we will be soggy but it would have passed by then - everything will get blown dry quickly at winscar as its high up it makes an vaguely exciting resevoir for sailing (quickly) :)
