If you buy the above (at great expense) and the device they are on 'dies' (as my etrex 20 has) you loose your maps too because they're 'locked' to the device!
Even tho I've now got a new etrex, they can't be ported across - only way to get them back would be to pay Garmin £70 to 'replace' my GPS and then the maps would be on that... but only on that gps.
In effect the license you 'own' is for one device & one device only
What a racket

Satmap is a much more reliable piece of kit than garmin plus the new 12 version with heart rate etc will be out soon.
All IMHO OF COURSE

Need basic info about Satmap... like

the website if it shows that has it all well hidden !!

Re: GARMIN 'BirdsEye' OS maps - WARNING!
Special Bundle: Active 10 BIKE with Full GB OS 50k & OCM 25k £370.00 on offer on the satmap website
Height 13cm; Width 7.5cm; Depth 3cm; Weight 175 grams (excluding batteries)
Satmap quote 15 to 18 hrs with the LiPol battery but it will probably do about 20 hrs, obviously depends on
how often you bring the screen out of sleep mode etc, most info can be found under FAQ's.
I don't use the satmap route planner, I prefer to use memory-map, save the gpx then load it to the satmap with the satmap satsync.
I like it because it lets you reroute when your out on the trail or plan an extra route on the unit itself :D
