Ty' n cornel hostel won't be available for food, brews or water for this years BB 200 ... the MOD have the entire hostel booked for a fortnight and smelly, tired mountain bikers won't really be welcome

I guess it will still be OK to use the tap there though?

The options for solid shelter en route are rapidly diminishing.
70 odd riders in Claerddu bothy could be fun!

"The Ministry of Defence is one of the UK’s largest landowners with some 600,000 acres, consisting of some 4000 built and rural sites. There are more than 45,000 buildings (excluding housing), including barracks, bunkers, naval bases, historic buildings, hangars and warehouses. The rural estate includes areas of outstanding natural beauty such as woods, plains and lakes, many of which are untouched by modern buildings or features."
Most inconsiderate given they've already got all the above to play with... :!:

I think you'll just have to take your chances. This is what I've been told:
I'm afraid that the Army has Tyncornel booked solid for two weeks including
the period of your event. I can't make any offer of refuge or sustenance
this year. We won't even have a warden present - the army will have sole
charge of the place and I assume they'll have their own things to do.

I can't see the army stopping us getting water from a tap on the side of the building, especially after the unfortunate event in the Beacons over the summer.

1) Not noticed the tap before. Is it on the side we approach or from the side we approached last year?
Chances are they will be out playing soldiers when we pass unless it is raining. Probably ok.
2) The river we cross about 400m before the hostel should be ok to drink from shouldn't it? May get water there and tip it out if I get to use the tap.

1) The tap is on the side as you approach this year. Up the steps, through the little metal gate and its at the end of the fence on the LHS at the NE corner of building.
2) Yes, that stream is (or was) safe last time I used it.
