Gentle Cycle Routes...

Not for me, I've not given up quite yet (still not been out since my diagnosis though  ).

Friends of mine are over from Canada and they're wonder if there are any nice (quiet) routes in the UK that they could do. Maybe 25-40 miles a day. About 5-6 days of cycling.

I know there are a few "new" mostly traffic free routes that have sprung up, but I've not personally got any experience of them. They expressed an interest in around Hadrian's wall... but I have precisely no experience up there.

Thanks all!

It's a lot further down south but there's two in East Anglia; the Rebellion Way which covers a lot of East Anglian sights. About 70/30 on/off road, not much elevation and nothing too technical with lots of places to stop. The weather is usually good over here too, and if they're looking to see a lot of typical English countryside and buildings it's a nice route. Then there's the Wolf Way that is a bit more off road and covers some similar areas.

Something that I saw recently - King John Way https://www.thekingjohnway.com/. At 300 miles it might be a bit long but there's a few stations on the western side of the route so they could start at one and ride as far as another.

Way of the Roses could be worth looking at. Takes in a fair few tourist-friendly kinda places en route.

Actually, I'd just point them at cycle.travel's route map for inspiration. I'd not checked it out for a while and it's a really good resource for this kinda thing.

I saw this route online recently and thought it looked pretty good: https://scotlandstartshere.com/kirkpatrickc2c/

177 mile C2C route from Stranraer to Eyemouth. There is a 'leisurely' 8 day itinerary on that website.

They cold also look at the Borders Abbey Way (https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/borders ... -way.shtml) and/or the John Muir Way: https://bikepackingscotland.com/johnmuirway/

I'm actually planning on cycling the NCN for Hadrians Wall from Carlisle to Newcastle in the next couple of weeks though just as a day trip (it's 65 miles)

The Great Western Cycleway might work - basically Bristol to London. Largely flat with good transport links all along it.

There are a few long stretches on the wolf way that are deep sand and unrideable and very nearly unpushable  not fun
