Supposed very hot this weekend.
Would anyone consider using just a mesh tent inner in a UK warm spell ?
Or indeed have you ever.

I've used my borah bivvy bag sans tarp 5 times and it's kind of similar as it's not really water proof. I got rained on once and had to grab the tarp toot sweet.

So no reason why not but I'd be looking for three independent weather forecasters to show 0% chance of rain all night...

I did this once. Met Office, Metcheck, BBC Weather all told me it'd be fine.

Have done once - in Joshua Tree national park when it was about 25 degrees overnight and you are in the high desert. Not done it in this country.

I've gone bivvy bag without a tarp every time I've used a bivvy bag, mainly as I don't own a tarp. Last August it was so warm over night, that I ended up shoving the bivvy bag half way down as I was melting. I'd rather one that has an integrated bug net over the face, but as we don't tend to suffer so badly around these parts from the winged death, it's not been a priority to track one down.



I've also tried using the Lanshan with both doors tied back, but there wasn't much of a breeze, so the tent was still dripping in condensation in the morning. I think a mesh inner would be great if the conditions are good enough. Pretty sure I'm going with the bivvy bag for my four nights out to Oxford and back, although I'll be taking a bottle of Smidge and a headnet, just in case...
