Do you want discs or not? ... that alone might be the deciding factor.

Well in that case I'd take a look at the new Planet X Kaffenback ... F+F for £250. I've seen a couple built up and they do look very nice.

I had a Crosscheck, superb all rounder.
Can be used for everything, I rode mine as a fixed gear, tourer, a cyclocross bike and kiddy carrier.
I would say its only limitations are its weight (I saw it as sturdy) and the lack of discs ( now available as a disc compatible bike, what's wrong with cantis or Vs any way?).

I enjoyed my test ride on it's sister 29er+ the Krampus, but the ECR is more bike packing orientated and should be available in frame and fork before Christmas and as a complete bike before Easter.

There are 3 dealers who can built a frame only up with Jones bars that I know about. Charlie the Bikemonger, Sideways Cycles (Stoke) and Keep Pedalling (Manchester)

Got one - sold my Roadrat to pay for it - it's very nice, but not really a bikepacking bike. Will probably fit 32mm tyres for a bit of rough stuff. Great fast light tourer/audax/commuter though, and does look lovely.
