Lake District Mega Mosque

Well, yesterday my friends Ben and Chris talked of a masjid being built in the Cumbria region (seems they'd gotten on board with the project a bit earlier but I only watched the full promo vid yesterday). I lightly marked it as, oh, I should invest in this here project. Especially since, as many of you might know, it's the weather and concern of being able to say my prayers that stops me from riding to certain places in certain weather's.

Anyway, after that initial video by Chris and Ben (I believe it was mainly a fundraising advert type YouTube vid) it appears the far right have got hold of the project and have managed to advertise it far and wide. All that means is that it'll get funded alot faster and the project be complete sooner.

Anyway, guess where I'll be riding out to next year from home  The UK Mega Mosque (most likely a term run-with by the far right, though maybe Chris and Ben might have used it first). Dear Mr Trumpsk, we love Britain

Perhaps you should plan a sequence of rides to the more remote mosques/masjid in Britain, planning around getting there for friday prayers followed by an overnight somewhere

Maybe Paul. This one just made me chuckle though (in how the far right got hold of it) finding a masjid in the Lakes has never been a problem as I just assumed there was no muslim community there at all... So wouldn't have bothered even trying to seatch it up. Obviously I was wrong and I might just get in touch with Ollie and see if I can help encourage them (and donate) to have a proper solid/stable bikeparking facility.

The remote masjids in the UK, yes indeed Paul it is something that is part of my projects. Not necessarily to make a 'ride to there' thing but it always helps when there's somewhere you can just stop and pray easily when put and about. Farthest one I made a route to is the one down in Brighton (charity ITT type event) but that one never happened.

I also have a 600 mile loop taking in most of the 200 miler ITT charity events I've organised over the last 6 years, but with some sort of prayer facilities every 100 or 150 miles. Called the Omar Bin Al Khattab Challenge (dunno why I added 'challenge' maybe 'divide' would've been better  ) and it was meant to be on the cards to BP this year.

Life always gets in the way though
