Hi everyone,

First post on this forum! Looks like a great community from the reading I've done so far. :) This is essentially a crosspost from my post over on Retrobike. I’m planning a trip to Croatia from the UK and my leaving date is in 2 ish months. Planning on a mix of wild camping and occasional campsites/hostels and in need of various bits, feel free to email with photos (alluk987@gmail.com). I'm a big fan of buying used and giving new life to things and am also on somewhat of a tight budget, hence the post!

- Sleeping bag or quilt thats good for warmer temperatures
- A light (ish) 2 man tent
- A sleeping mat
- Ultralight camping chair
- Inflatable pillow
- Front rack with basket mount/bag support
- Top tube bag or stem bag
- A pot or mug, or both. I want something in between a pot/mug so I can use it for cooking as well as making coffee/tea.
- Dry bag(s)
- Voile straps or similar
- Multi tool with chain breaker
- And lastly a pair of binoculars!

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum. Agreed about ‘great community’, it is too.

Top tube bags, I have 3 to choose from if any use (a R.apha waterproof that needs some 3M sticky pads to make it stick to top tube(about 1L); a Rockgiest Cache in 2L massive version (not waterproof as it’s not seam sealed but waterproof material) or a StraightCut design bag which looks to be about 1.2 litre capacity but again this isn’t really waterproof though it has a waterproof YKK zipper.

I’m guessing you’ll find lots of bags going free in the oncoming posts but if you want one of these then just say and I’ll sort out some pics and/or a price.

Again, welcome to the forum you made a good choice :-bd

I've got a vango trek pro 3 compact sleeping mat going spare, and possibly a few other bits if you're interested. It's not the lightest, but pretty comfy.

Thank you :)

Could you shoot some pics/prices over of the Rockgeist and StraightCut bags?

Yeah, not sure if I really need it to be honest, first time bikepacker here. All the ones new are bloody expensive!

Not too sure on the mug size but I imagine something 500-800ml would suffice?

foam 'sit mat' - or old camping mat cut down... lets you sit on cold/wet walls/rocks/logs etc without getting a wet/cold backside, and can be packed easily, takes up little room and maybe even used to help stop other things rubbing against each other...
