And yes, he does hold his ears like that  He's a rescue dog/puppy and somewhat nervous ATM but getting better.

He occasionally holds both ears up, usually if he's heard something in the distance and trying to figure out what it is. The left ear soon drops down again though.

We were told he's a "Schnauser and something". I think the previous owner assumed minature schnauser and he grew quite a bit bigger than expected  When he's got both ears up he also tends to pull one front paw up off the ground so it's possible the "something" is a Pointer or similar. He's about that size, sort of a leggy Collie.

He's settling in but he gets spooked by things like us opening/closing the curtains which make a bit of a racket as the support rings slide along the rails. That's mostly acclimatisation though. There's going to be a bit of getting him to associate actions with good things: getting in the car leads to going for a walk/play, that kind of thing.

Pretty much ignored the one (that we know) he's seen so far. Certainly didn't go into attack or fear mode. We're only two days in, most of the initial time is going to be getting him settled in the house - though he's currently ligged out on the settee

Brilliant.

He's obviously settled in, as he's commandeered the sofa, already.

Our rehomed gundog came to us after 8 years of living in kennels and took about 21.5 seconds to claim our sofa.
He's been here 4 years, now, but it feels like forever.

They truly are the best friend you can have.

May you have many happy years to come

Sitrep...

He likes sandals, and remote controls :???: I suppose that settles the "what are we watching?" debate  We had a barking session this afternoon - at the breadmaking machine! It will be one of those sounds that he's not heard before.

Took him for a walk at lunchtime and there was a German short haired pointer that had very similar markings and size. Possible that that's the "something".
