SPDs, Flats?

What are you using? I picked up some Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier Overshoes this week, they look the best overshoe I've yet found. 'Fleece' lined Neoprene with a shiny water repellent overlayer. But what about insole? Anybody using anything other than the standard one fitted to your boot?

Spd MO80 winter boot and Woolie Boolies.

Winter boots really transformed the comfort level, even goretex lined you still get damp feet but they stay oh so toasty warm.

Using flats tends to limit the footwear choices a bit, so pretty much 5:10s all year. Sealskinz come out when it's wet. However, today I'll be riding in some super cheap Duffs from CRC as I'm sick of destroying 5:10s in a very short space of time.

Winter and its effects may at sometime lead me to riding clipped in ... no other reason than a greater choice of footwear.

s8tannorm - Beware changing to spd's just for winter...if there's snow or ice, it can build up on the pedals or cleats, making it impossible to clip in! The way the winter was last year it nearly had me changing to flats!
Saying that, like others have said, winter biking boots with wool socks or seal skins are proper toasty. I've put Time pedals on my latest bike to see if they cope any better with winter, if not I might still be forced to use flats.

ice build up is a problem I agree with SPD's but as with Stu's picture above flats suffer the same issues, the answer is a bit of tap dancing to knock the ice off around the cleats and a good boot to the pedals and a scrape with a twig or multi tool and sorted for a few more miles :D
