Hi there.
My wife and I are looking at having ten days away, and due to being somewhat burnt out are not going on our customary bike tour, we toured in Jordan and Israel last September and got caught up in the whole conflict which wasn't exactly relaxing. So as a bit of a compromise between sitting in the sun and biking we we're looking at possible destinations where you can have varied road/ gravelly type day rides and then sun/ beach on rest days. We are aiming for March next year.
Any ideas appreciated

I'd recommend Mallorca for that sort of trip.

We go to the canaries (Lanzarote) regularly and I ride loads of gravel trails whilst out there. Some of the roads are billiard ball smooth and some are really neglected. The gravel tracks can be quite washboardy and the wind is almost always a headwind.
The southern side of the island is the tackier package holiday type venues but the northern side is more rural and quieter.

I'd recommend Mallorca too, we stayed near Alcudia, plenty of good local beaches and nice off road routes to explore. March could still be a bit unsettled and cool, I've had snow in Mallorca in April in the mountains!

We were looking at those two, I was just concerned Mallorca was a bit too much of a serious roadie vibe
Sarah is keen on Tenerife, unfortunately she's only got a Salsa warroad so anything too rough is a bit out of bounds.
