360 cameras anyone?

I keep being drawn to insta360 and similar cameras to get wider shots while riding.
I typically ride by myself and while gopro and phone footage can be really good, i find that not having a moving subject in the shot can make the footage very boring very quickly.

Im not sure a 360 camera is the solution and with how much they cost it might be cheaper to hire a videographer for a day!

If you own one id be keen to hear how you find it, how easy theyre to use and to work on the footage at home.
If you dont have one but found a good alternative to countless hours of "empty" footage, I'd love to hear from you as well :)

I think you and John Climber need to get out on a few rides Valerio. Maybe even get Alan Boardman over.

That would solve the problem of not having someone in the shot

I don't have one but Lee Johnston posted some footage the other day with one and I didn't like the 'fish eye' distortion. Not sure if thats possible to edit out or inherent in the 360° nature.

Is that not for a drone?

I did find one of his 360 videos on his YouTube page though, thanks!

Yeah agreed. Videos taken with them seem to have lots of distortion, to various degrees, which I'm not a fan of and makes the footage look a bit fake.
Having said that the ability to reframe the shot in post seems great.

Yes, the footage looks much nicer than that from one of those 360 things...

Issue i have with drones is that theyre bulky, more delicate than an action cam, need multiple batteries, can only fly in good weather, and take a bit to get set up. Yes they give amazing and unique shots but not something i can justify buying :( i just wouldnt use one enough.
Perhaps once prices have gone down enough...

I had the Insta 360 original
Changed it for the GoPro 360
But gone back to Insta with the X3

They have the X4 out now and both the X3 and X4 use the updated software.

I lost my selfie stick before our Tiree trip and the wobbly one that had held the camera in place (but wobbly) on this film below show's how it can easily be edited on the phone app.

Yes I think it's a good camera go for the X4

Stop showing shiny things!

That DJI Neo looks ace for the price.
And the X4 looks quality.

I'm very tempted by both, but want, rather than need.

Btw, @johnClimber I learned the other day while out on the fat bike that we've a mutual friend in Jim(nesia)
