I have been up in Scotland for a while and the weather (wind) this year has been a bit #£%^&

That means I have had to cook indoors. The tent. Dodgy and dangerous.

My BRS 3000 is the best gas stove ever. If MSR made it, it would be +£100.
But it lacks stability with a pot. Fair enough, it is small.

I have other gas stoves which are more stable, but not with me. My Evernew Ti (Trangia alcohol) is a no no in the tent and outside in the wind.

So looking at getting a SOTO Windmaster from Amaz £50. Reviews are great for use in the wind/outdoors and a very wide 4 prong stand. Pizzo igniter. Great non-needle valve control.

Anyone used one? Bigger. Bulkier. Poop?

I upgraded to soto windmaster from the MSR. I think it's an excellent upgrade. Can't whack some of them windshields though Rasta IMO. Though I've never really bought I think Stu stocks a range.

Recommend it, if you can find a pot combo that works well for it. It works well with a canister in my Snow Peak 700 pot, but for example not my MSR titan kettle

I switch between gas and meths depending on the trip, as a gas stove it's ace and all I use now

They're very good. I did a review some time ago.

Just a thought - is stability not largely to do with the size of the canister? Adding legs or using a strap / tent peg round it should make a massive difference no matter the actual stove.

Sorry, I meant the stability of the pot, old style Mighty Mug 900, on the 3 small prongs of the BRS.
I've started using a bigger canister 230g with a stand, but the baggage is now getting bigger - may have to dig the panniers out

Which is also why I want to avoid a wind shield. It all adds up.

The smaller Soto stove fits in an MSR ti pot with plenty of room to spare. Even had space for a Leatherman skelitool,lighter and a little 3d printed canister stand if the canister is carried separately.
