Anyone used one of these for filling up part used gas canisters for camping stoves? Any good.

The flipfuel is £35 on Amazon whilst some generic similar looking thing is £17 anyone used either?

Yes, I weighed the cylinder I'm filling to make sure it wasn't over filled. Put the cylinder that you want to fill in the freezer for a bit.

I also found some high quality butane propane mix at the local independent DIY place to use for fills

John Climber did a walk through of using one of these. It's probably a couple of years ago now.

We've got one of the Ebay/Amazon versions. Works fine though for safety I do the filling outdoors.

I bought a budget one years ago and it works great. Although I refill my smaller canisters from the aerosol type canisters as I find it works out even cheaper, so that's the adaptor I bought. I was really cheap from memory, like well under a fiver

I just bought one of the adapters to refill from the aerosol type and it was £2.49 with I think £2 postage.

I've not tried it yet so can't comment on how well it works. The aerosol type are the cheapest way to buy gas.

As an example, from Blacks (needs to be physical store I can get to) they have a C500 (isobutane) screw type canister for £9 on sale. This works out at £2.05 per 100g. They have isobutane aerosol type as a 4 pack of 227g for £8 which is 88p per 100g.

The 100g screw type canister is £7 which is 8x the cost per unit of gas.

Helpful tip -

I write the full weight of the 100g canisters on the bottom with a sharpie, before it's first use. I then write the empty weight on the bottom when it's empty. The difference is the weight of the gas. Before I fill it, I put the receiving canister into the freezer for a few minutes, makes filling it a bit easier. I write the number of times it's been filled (using the tally type markings) on the bottom so I know how much use it's had

Mine was from Amazon. Campingmoon. It is very well made. The finish is excellent. The only things I can't comment on are the internal o-rings, which I can't see.

I also bought the adapter for the long cannisters / 227g Butane.

Mixed gas for winter. Butane for summer as it is £1.25 / 227g

Can't remember, maybe £18 and £4.

But I still don't turn on my cooker at full blast and outside in the wind, like on all the U tube videos Maybe that looks/sounds better.
