FS - Surly Crosscheck frameset 58cm - SOLD

For sale is my much used but well looked after crosscheck frameset. I bought this in 2020 as I wanted to build a fixie and this seemed the best bet for a bit of fixed gear gravel action, which it most certainly is. However, of late it's been giving my knees some gyp, largely due to flailing madly down hills given my lowish gear to get up 'em! I could have put a freewheel on it but then it would be too similar to my Straggler so I've decided it has to go.

When I built it I waxoiled and acf-15'd inside the frame tubes so it's pretty much corrosion free, excepting a bit on the drop outs. Despite all the use, it's in very good condition with barely a scuff or scratch. I taped the top, seat and down tubes with clear vinyl film to protect them from framebag straps - this is a bit scuffed in places but could be replaced. I also taped where the cables rub, the chainstay and the frame vent holes - I've taken this all off as it was getting a bit frayed but it did offer further protection from wear and rust, hence the frames good condition. All threads good and full compliment of stainless bolts in the braze ons.
Frameset will come with a Cane Creek 40 headset, Tektro mini V brakes (about the best option for canti bosses)with nearly new pads and the correct Surly thingy for adjusting the rear wheel if you want to go fixed or SS. I've managed to lose one of the drop out adjuster screws although I'm still looking for it so hopefully it will turn up. You don't need it if you are going SS.
It's a great all rounder equally at home on road or off. As with all Surly road and gravel bikes its nicely stuck together with lugs on the forks adding a bit of class. Ride wise it is very nice, being a little springier than the disk braked Straggler.
Price-wise I'm after £200 plus postage at cost or pick up from Fife, 10 mins off the M90 JN4.
