I bought a few pairs of the Vulpine Mens Merino Padded Boxers from Sport pursuit last year which lasted a predictably short length of time before getting holes worn in them (approx 3000 miles each pair)
Anyone know of any more robust substitutes. I'm tired of damp smelly lycra and going without a chamois is not an option.

Vulpine (in my estimation) would have been cheap stuff. I have the Lusso (two pairs) and a set of 7Mesh. All are really good but the quality of the 7Mesh I reckon is even better than the Lusso.

Lusso are the older version so Italian made chamoise inside. Bit expensive but I would definitely buy again. Worth a look I think.

I would definitely probably size up but maybe the ones I have are just right. Just feel that if I had gone up there would be less stretch and tugging at em to get em on!

One of the most common causes of damage to merino wool clothing is general purpose biological detergents. They should not be used as they contain enzymes designed to digest protein-based food stains and over time, these can damage protein fibres and cause holes. Wool and Silk are both protein based natural fibres. Many detergents contain these enzymes but don't always state it on the label. I use a wool and silk specific detergent for all my wool stuff and have t-shirts that are years old and still going strong and look reasonably smart despite being worn for days under a backpack.

Thanks Shaf. I'd forgotten about these. Bought a couple of pairs on sale. Very thin pad but the fit is promising
